To bridge the gap between residents and city governance, advocating for practical, common-sense policies and initiatives that enable Portland to thrive
Knowledge is power! Informed voters are better equipped to engage with the political process and hold leadership accountable
Championing common sense in City Hall is needed to change the way policy is discussed, focusing on outcomes not ideologies
Portland is our unique and beautiful home, and a government that invests in its betterment is the celebration it deserves
John believes that Portlanders know what’s best for Portland. For too long though, the voices of the many have been drowned out by the voices of the loudest few.
The beating heart of John's campaign is a commitment to collaboration, including all stakeholders in the decision making processes that impact them. Only when all relevant perspectives are heard and valued can we find common ground, and only on common ground can we blaze the bold trail to the eminently livable, equitable, and thriving future our city deserves.
Collaboration is useless however without the establishment of trust, and trust must be earned. Through the continued practice of transparent communication, proactive community engagement, and equitable practices John will empower voters year-round to actively participate in the processes of government, leaving no one in the dark and earning your trust as a true steward of District #4.
His strategy then is a simple one: Understand the needs of those represented through continued outreach and voter empowerment; support reforms and legislation that reflect those desires; and iteratively reassess progress transparently, building trust and collaborating with key stakeholders every step of the way.
The problems we face today will not be fixed overnight and make no mistake: it is a long road ahead. Progress however, not in name only but in real, tangible changes that will be undeniable on our city streets, is well within our reach if we start the journey now.
John envisions a city leadership transformed into a true reflection of its population. He envisions leaders unbound from arbitrary ideology, free to act in accordance with the realities they face, making real progress towards the outcomes we all desire. He envisions in turn a city freed from the perennial cycle of turmoil that has plagued it for so many years.
As wide as the gulf between our reality and that vision may seem from where we stand today, I know we have it in us to cross the divide. Together, we will bridge the gap!
The task ahead is mighty and John can't do it alone. He needs your help to make sure John has the continued resources necessary to get the word out and secure his position in November on the Portland City Council for District 4.
